The
Geeta is a divine song conveying spriritual gospel revealed by Lord Krishna
5200 years ago to his beloved disciple – Arjun. The Geeta is a poetic
dialogue between a divine teacher and a dedicated disciple.
There is only one Geeta in this universe. Where are different Geeta? More
than five thousand years ago the civilization was smouldering in the violent
inferno of hatred. Large armies of Kauravas and Pandavas stood facing each
other for war. Amidst them Lord Krishna sermonised the Geeta, but there
were only two listeners. One was Arjun, while other listener was Sanjay
who was listening from afar. They both were blessed with divine vision and
comprehension - the former was blessed by Lord Krishna whereas the latter
was gifted by Ved Vyas. There are only two listeners, whereas ears and eyes
of others were open, but none could listen or observe anything. Those millions
of eyes and ears didn’t have the power or capacity to perceive or
understand it.
What were the inner feelings and emotions of Shri Krishna when he preached
the Geeta? All inner feelings can not be expressed in words. Some can be
told, some are expressed through the body language, and the rest are to
be realized and experienced by a seeker through devotion. Only after attaining
the state which Shri Krishna had been in, an accomplished teacher understand
what Geeta says. He simply does not reiterate verses of the geeta but, in
fact, gives expressions to the inner meaning of the Geeta. It is possible
to see the same picture which was there when Shri Krishna preached the Geeta.
He therefore, sees the real meaning, can show it to us, can evoke the inner
feelings and teachings that would lead us on the path of Enlightenment.
Rev. Shri Paramahansji Maharaj’ was also an enlightened teacher of
such an exalted spritual state and the implication of his words and blessings
to grasp the inner feelings of the Geeta itself is the ‘Yatharth
Geeta’
This Geeta contains the complete description of the dynamic meditation system
of the research that gives revelation and attainment to the self, which
is the absolute spirituality of India and also the basic source of the prevailing
religions' of the whole world. It further concludes that the Supreme Being
is one, the action to attain is one, the grace is one and the result, too,
is one and that is the vision of the supreme Being, for attainment of godliness
and eternal life of supreme joy and eternal grace - "Sachidanand"
The author of the Yatharth Geeta is a saint who is devoid of worldly education,
yet is eternally organized by the grace of accomplished Guru, which became
possible after a long practice of penance and meditation. He considers writing
as an obstacle on the path to the Supreme Beautitude, yet his directions
became the cause for his treatise. The Supreme Being had revealed to him
that all his inherent mental attitudes have been nullified excepting a minor
one writing of ‘Yatharth Geeta”. Initially he had tried his
best to cut this attitude too, through meditation, but the higher directive
prevailed. Thus the treatise, “Yatharth Geeta” became possible.
As such the Yatharth Geeta is an incarnated exposition of divine gospel
truth through Shreemad Bhagawad Geeta. This cannot be comprehended with
the intellect.
But would this knowledge be enlightening ?” Yogeshwar Krishna says
– “No”. The lord said,” Arjun! You should approach
a holy spiritual saint with pure conscience and seek out this divine knowledge.
Those learned saints who have understood the true essence of spirituality
would pass on this knowledge to you.
Lord Krishna said, “ Arjun, knowing this divine knowledge, you will
never again be a prey like this to attachment, and equipped with this knowledge
you will see all beings within yourself and then within me. Even if you
are the most heinous sinner, the ark of knowledge will carry you safely
across the river if all evils. Undoubtedly nothing in the world is more
purifying than this knowledge and your heart will realize it spontaneously
when you have attained to perfection on the Way of Action. The worshipper
of true faith who has subdued his senses attains to this knowledge and at
the very moment (of attainment) he is rewarded with the benediction of supreme
peace.
There is no doubt that such knowledge leads to divine revealation. Having
learnt that you will never have any doubt in your life. You will realize
the benefit of such knowledge not in the beginning or in between, but only
in the final mature state. Your soul would realize its true essence in the
matured stages of Yoga.
In the Geeta, replying to the question, Arjun is advised to obtain this
knowledge from sages through reverence, inquiry and guileless solicitation,
for only these wise souls who are aware of the reality can initiate him
into it. Close proximity to an accomplished sage, asking him sincere questions,
and rendering of humble service to him constitute the means of realization.
The way of securing knowledge, the worthwhile knowledge, and the knower
constitute the threefold inspiration to worship, the doer, the agents, and
the deed itself are the threefolds constituents of “worship”.
There are over ten thousand commentaries of Geeta and all of them are worthy
of honours. All of them direct one to the spiritual path in accordance with
faith in it. but Yathartha Geeta differs on certain issues :-
- Till date whoever has heard about Geeta has realised that,
this scripture was instrumental in the great terrible war
of Mahabharat. Although the war was fought, Yathartha Geeta
says that, a war fought in accordance with Geeta is not
a war among the living beings but obliterates the existence
between the nature and the Supreme Being and the result
at last is universal conquest. This is a war within oneself.
- The readers of this say that, it sermonises to do one’s
duty without any desire of reward. Whatever one does, it
should be done without any desire of reward. But, Yathartha
Geeta clarifies, the Karma that Lord Krishna indicates is
in true sense Karma ‘Aradhana’ – rumination
of divine duty. The ritual of Yoga is Yajna and the process
of putting it into practice is the karma. This is a new
definition.
- The moment people hear the word – Yajna, they would
conjure up vision of a pyre where Sesame seeds, clarified
butter etc. offered in the holy fire. But according to Yathartha
Geeta the whole universe – animate and inanimate -
are the ingredients of offerings for the holy fire. The
expanse of our mind is universe. The result of he holy ritual
is achieved when the existence of the expanse of mind is
obliterated and what remains is the perception of Supreme
Being – “The omnipotent Brahma, its feel, entry
within and the divine state! Acquiescence of the divine
blessings !!
- Having read the Geeta a saint divided the human society
into different high and low classes -four classes called
Four Varnas as prescribed by the God. But Yathartha Geeta
doesn’t believe in segmentating of human beings. The
thing that leads to such division is the Karma action –
the ritual of meditation.
- Yathartha Geeta has directed attention towards the fact
that the Karma prescribed by Lord Krishna is a specified
Karma. There has to be a proper ritual for it. Usually people
continue to do something or the other; isn’t that
Karma? Yogeshwar Krishna has explicitly clarified in Chapter
Three that, activity that is done other than this Yajna
is ‘Karma’ which creates a bond. The Karma prescribed
by Geeta is such that having learnt it you would be freed
of all the bonds of the World.
- The meaning of the Yajna described by Yathartha Geeta
is astounding. Till date not a single treatise has described
that, inhaling and exhaling of breath itself is Yajna. The
exhaling of breath is a Yajna and holding of breath is Yajna.
Having faith in one divinity, servitude of the divine teacher
and such fourteen steps are described for the performance
of Yajna.
The activity, Yogeshwar Krishna was hinting at is perhaps
the Meditation techniques. The precise Karma of Geeta aims
at following the steps of this technique and the result
of the Karma is the realisation and entry within the omnipotent
Brahma!
- It is falsely believed in the society that only the people
of upper caste can perform Yajna. It is fallaciously believed
that the people of low community and the foreigners have
no right to perform Yajna, chant ‘Aum’ or enter
a temple. But it has been clarified in Yathartha Geeta that
the treatise of Geeta does not prescribe any such rituals
Performed by such people. But the Geeta prescribes that
every human being has a right to perform such yajna. Geeta
says in verse 31 of chapter of 4 that, without Yajna, it
is not possible to gain human life again, how will it be
possible to obtain liberation (moksha) Ephemeral is the
root cause of all anguishes in this life, but since you
are blessed with the human body, worship me. All those who
are humans have a right to worship god.
- It is customary to worship multiple of deities. Yogeshwar
Krishna describes worship of other deities as the product
of idiotic mindset or insatiable lust and ignorance of the
people. He says that the God is only one truth and take
recourse to that. Geeta believes in one god
- Yathartha Geeta has explained that the Geeta is a religious
treatise for all the people of the world. It doesn’t
belong to only Hindus or saints, but is very much religious
treatise for the human beings spread out in various religious
sects such as Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Parsee, Buddhists
or Jains or any other religion by any other name. According
to Geeta the man is a unit. His temperament is either divine
or formed by his natural instincts. Every human being is
either divine or devilish. In fact, there is no precise
caste or sect of a human being. One can attain supreme peace
by following the teachings of Geeta.
- Geeta doesn’t entice you that you can attain heaven
or terrify you with the thoughts of hell after the death.
Geeta berates the happiness of the heaven and cautions you
against against the pain and unhappiness at the end. Geeta
enables you to perceive , feel and immerse within the Supreme
Being. Such a state doesn’t exist after the death.
It is attainable very quickly. You must engross yourself
with entire trust and you can experience him in this mortal
body itself.
- After reading Yathartha Geeta faithfully for three to
four times, you would come to realise that, the God about
whom you have been hearing till now, has already begun to
guide you . Once you come to realise this truth, you will
forget about being a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu or a Muslim,
a Jain or a Buddhist. You would realise that in this vast
world only you have the human form. You are the essence of
divinity, He is your image and He is your ultimate destination.
And the way to attain it is, Geeta
- It is explicitly mentioned in Geeta that, in order to
attain the divinity, one will have to follow the prescribed
path or do the precise Karma. Without that nobody has been
able to ever achieve the goal nor we will be able to achieve
it. The entire meditation technique has been described stepwise
in Geeta. It would be a great mistake to ignore the practice
of the dictates of Geeta or not to know about it.
- Yathartha Geeta makes it explicit that human body is like
a garment. Just as one discards old clothes and puts on
new, the soul (Atma) discards old body and adopts a new
one. Being male or female is just like having different
shapes of the garment. There are two types of males in the
world. Body or form of all being is or Changing male. When
all senses including the mind are conquered then he becomes
male. He can no longer be destroyed. This is the status
of complete devotion. In various societies women are either
respected or looked down upon. However as shown in Yathartha
Geeta, anyone dedicating the self to ‘me’ (God)
attains ‘moksha’ whether one is man or woman
- The most important point on which Yathartha Geeta emphasises
is that the key to understand Geeta is through ‘Yogeshwar’
or an enlightened Guru. Otherwise even a learned intelligent
person doesn’t have that capability. When Geeta was
discoursed among millions whose ears and the eyes were open,
but there were only two listeners – Arjun and Sanjay
who were blessed with divine perception.

In accordance with Yathartha Geeta, as soon as you begin to study the teachings
of the Geeta, the God would guide you to the right Guru. You will be guided
from within. Your doubts would be dissolved. You will be awakened from within
and would gradually proceed on the path of divinity. |
